Artist's Description

In the spring, the Milky Way almost parallels Mesa Arch - around 3 am on April 15. Low level lights were placed under the arch during a 20-second exposure at ISO 6400. Mesa Arch sits on the edge of a butte with a 600-foot drop below. It has become one of the most sought-after sunrise locations in the world for serious photographers. There is rarely less than around 20 shutterbugs there and sometimes as many as 200 at sunrise.

In 1989, I began conducting photo workshops to the area and in 1992 made Moab my permanent home. I began making the transition to digital in 2005 and the majority of my images have been made with Canon digital equipment since 2008. In addition to workshops, I started self-publishing my photographs on greeting cards in 1989 through Ancient Images, a company I founded and operated for 20 years. I have been featured in two instructional photography videos, HIGH DESERT IMAGES and NIGHT...
